Snyder Ready for the Battle

Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team have definitely had a successful 2011 race season.  The 2010 Rookie of the Year, currently sits 3rd in the ADRL Pro Extreme points standings and can finish as high as 2nd for the year, heading into the final race of the season.  However, the Winner’s Circle has eluded them thus far and they have 2 chances to change that this weekend.

The race will begin on Friday, when the Team will get their first qualifying shot to make the extremely competitive 16 car field.  Then, on Saturday, they will get three more qualifying attempts down the 1/8th mile as well as line up as the 3rd seed in the Battle for the Belts.  The prestigious 8 car race is comprised of the top points earners of the season, the winner taking home $25,000.

“We are really excited to be competing in the Battle for the Belts in our first full season in ADRL.  It is definitely going to be a battle because every car earned their way into the race throughout the year.  Hopefully, we will be able to come out on top and get into the winner’s circle.  I know that we have a good car and great crew, it’s just a matter of getting a little luck and having it all come together.  With two races this weekend, this is the time to peak,” said Snyder.

“This is the end of the season.  We will have all winter to think about and prepare for the next one, and whoever wins here gets to be the champion for the entire winter.  We won Pomona once back when we were racing TAFC and it was a lot of fun to be the last winner for months, it would be awesome to repeat that this year.”

Snyder Reaches the Finals in Virginia

Thus far, the 2011 season has been good for Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team. They are the only Team to make it to the semi-finals or better at each of the 6 ADRL Races in the Pro Extreme category, but until this weekend they had yet to make it to the final round. The Powersource Transportation Corvette did just that, but came up a little short of the winner’s circle, gaining valuable points as the season winds down.

“It was a really good weekend for us. We have been talking about having a final round match up between Scruggs and I since we brought this car out a year ago. Of course, we wanted to win, but when it is your teammate and friend, no one really loses in that deal. We also gained some points on the leaders, and if we can keep that up over the next 3 races, I think we have a shot at the championship,” said Snyder.

The 30 year-old from DeMotte, Indiana qualified 4 th in the 16 car field with a 3.68 at 206 mph. In the first round Snyder earned the win and lane choice with a 3.70 and continued to get quicker in the 2 nd and 3 rd rounds, running 3.68 and 3.67, respectively. In the final round, Snyder left first, and ran a 3.69 but was unable to get the win at the stripe.

“We have 3 more races left, and this car is running really good, and we have a handle on her. We need a little luck and a few things to happen, but we are still in the hunt. Hopefully, we will be able to get this car in the winner’s circle for all the great people behind us when we head to Rockingham in a few weeks.”

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team would also like to thank their associate sponsors Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, R & R Racing Products, Flatout Gaskets, NGK, Lucas Oil, Snyder Auto, VP Racing Fuels, JE Pistons, PSI Springs, Long Printing, Goodson, Jeg’s and The Winning Team  for their continued support this year.

Fifth Straight Semi-final for Snyder

For their 5th event of the year, Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team headed to Martin, Michigan, and earned their 5th semi-final finish in as many races. The Team sponsored by Powersource Transportation remains 3rd in the ADRL Pro Extreme points standings, less than 3 rounds out of 2nd going into the remaining 4 races of the season.

“The car continues to run really well and we can’t really be upset with another semi-final. The crew is doing a great job and the Coan converter and car continue to respond to our changes. During the heat of the day, we ran quicker than anyone else out here, so we think we are getting a handle on her. Now we just have to apply everything we are learning and try to go rounds down the stretch of the season,” said Snyder.

The 30 year-old second generation driver, qualified #3 in the 16 car field with an impressive 3.69 at 208 mph pass in the heat of the day earning lane choice in first round of eliminations. During first round, Snyder had to pedal the car after loosing traction off the starting line to pick up the win and face teammate Jason Scruggs in the second round. He was able to pick up the win running 3.75 earning choice in the next round. During the semi’s, Snyder left just a bit too quick, turning on the red light by just .002 of a second to end his day.

“We are having so much fun out here at the ADRL races. Skip and Barb from Powersource have been coming to a lot of the races and being so close to home this week a lot of our friends and family got to come out and watch us. We are really looking forward to going to Virginia next and trying to get this car in the winner’s circle for all of the great people behind us.”

Fourth Straight Semi-final for Snyder

Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team earned their fourth semi-final finish in as many races this past weekend at Heartland Park Topeka during the Kansas National Guard Independence Drags. The DeMotte, Indiana based Powersource Transportation sponsored Team remains 3rd in the Pro Extreme ADRL points standings.

“This car is really coming around and responding to the changes that Dad and Jeff are making to it. We continue to run quicker and with a little luck hopefully we can get it into the Winner’s Circle soon. We continue to gather more data and are really looking forward to getting back out there in Martin next month,” said Snyder.

Snyder qualified #5 for the event with a 3.72 at 202 mph. During the first round of eliminations, the 29 year old driver, ran a 3.71, low for the round. He followed that with a 3.73 to earn lane choice in the semi-finals. In the semis, he covered the eighth mile in an impressive 3.68 seconds at 205 mph, but it wasn’t quite enough to earn the win light at the other end.

“This is a really hard class and we are happy with our finish this weekend. It would have been great to make one more run, but to go to the semi-finals at every race so far this year with the level of competition out here shows how consistently quick this car is. The air here was different than anything we had seen before with the Pro Mod and we were able to go from a to b on every pass, so I think we will only get better from here. We are almost to the halfway point of the season, and we are right there. It should be fun to see how things shake out between now and October.”

The next event for the Team will be in Martin, Michigan at the ADRL Ford Drive One Summer Drags July 15th and 16th.

Three Straight Semi-finals for Snyder

Three races into the ADRL 2011 season, 2010 Rookie of the Year Mick Snyder is sitting in third place in the points standings after the Reading event was called due to curfew before the semi-final round could be contested.

“In just our second year in this class, it is safe to say we are still learning a lot. Being able to go rounds over the past few races has really helped us gather some data and try some new things with the car. And we really think the Powersource Transportation Corvette has quite a bit left in her,” said Snyder.

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team qualified number #7 for the event with a 3.69 second pass at 207 mph. In the first round Snyder used his horsepower to drive around his opponent with a 3.74 second pass and earn lane choice in the second round. The 29 year-old driver, ran a career best 3.65 at 209 mph to earn the win light and his way into the semi-finals.

“We would have really liked to have finished this race, but unfortunately between mother nature and the curfew in Reading, it just wasn’t possible. I think that we are in really good shape heading into the next race and look forward to the challenge of making it to the Winner’s circle against some of the best racers in the country.”

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team would also like to thank their associate sponsors Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, R & R Racing Products, Flatout Gaskets, NGK, Lucas Oil, Snyder Auto, VP Racing Fuels, JE Pistons, PSI Springs, Long Printing, Goodson, Jeg’s, Saftey-Kleen and The Winning Team  for their continued support this year.

Snyder Ready for Maple Grove

After back to back successful outings in Palm Beach and Houston, Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team are headed to Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pennsylvania.  Snyder, who currently sits third in the ADRL Pro Extreme points standings, is hoping to take his Powersource Transportation ’67 Corvette into the Winner’s circle this weekend.

“We have had a couple of good weekends.  Qualified well and gone rounds, now it’s time to take it one step further and celebrate on Saturday night.  We have a lot of great associate sponsors behind this car, some who have been with us for over 15 years and several racing associations.  It would be great to get a win for them so early in the season,” said Snyder.

“The last couple races have been a little different for us.  We have never been to Maple Grove before and we had never been to Palm Beach either.  It is kind of exciting seeing new places and try out our combination different tracks.”

Snyder is hoping to improve on his two semi-final finishes this weekend and move up in the extremely competitive Pro Extreme points standings.  The racing action begins on Friday with 3 qualifying shots.  They will get one more shot on Saturday morning before eliminations which continue throughout the day until the champion is crowned on Saturday evening.

Semi-Final Finish for 2010 Rookie of the Year Snyder

Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team kicked off their season last weekend in Houston, Texas at the ADRL CarSafe Dragpalooza. The weekend started off at the banquet Thursday evening, where the 29 year-old driver was awarded the 2010 Rookie of the Year award, and ended with the Powersource Transportation Team earning a semi-final finish in their 2011 debut.

“What a difference a year makes. We went to Crandall to make a few laps on the car on Tuesday and Wednesday, so by the time we got here I was used to being back behind the wheel again and we had some of our new ideas sorted out. It was so nice to be back out at the track after the long winter,” said Snyder.

The Team qualified 4 th for the 16 car field, improving on each of their qualifying runs, ending with a 3.69 at 206 mph. In the first and second rounds Snyder earned wins with 3.70 and 3.73 second runs down the 1/8 th mile track. In the semi-finals, Snyder left first and ran another 3.70 second pass but lost by just .007 of a second or about 2 feet at the stripe. The finish puts him 4 th in the points standings after 2 races.

“This is one of the best starts to the season we have had in years. We tend to play catch up and pick it up at the end of the year, so to begin with some momentum is a good feeling. We really don’t have that many runs in the Pro Mod under our belts, so we are really learning a lot each and every pass about how the car will react and what kind of changes we need to make. Hopefully, we can continue to improve and get in the Winner’s Circle soon for all of the great sponsors that help us out.”

For the next race, the Team will head to Palm Beach International Raceway, April 15 th and 16 th.
