Snyder Earns First ADRL PX Win

Mick Snyder did something few others have done this past weekend in Norwalk, Ohio.  The 29 year-old ADRL rookie who has won on both the NHRA and IHRA circuits in the past, added a Minuteman to his collection as well.  The DeMotte, Indiana based Team sponsored by Powersource Transportation qualified in the #6 spot of the quickest ever ADRL Pro Extreme field, and earned wins over #1 and #2 in the points standings en route to their first win.

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team ran an impressive 3.66 at 207 mph to earn the first round win.  During the second round, Snyder secured a spot in the Battle of the Belts for teammate Jason Scruggs when he took out his opponent with another nice pass, 3.68 at 206 mph.  He made his way to the final round by running a 3.68, before having to pedal the 63 Corvette and keep it off the centerline to earn his first win.

“It was a great weekend for us.  We have been kind of creeping up on it all year, and all the changes we made are definitely paying off,” said Snyder.

With this win Snyder has also proven he can win in just about anything.  Previously earning wins on the national event level in dragsters and funny cars, both clutch and converter, he can now add door car to that list.

“It was obviously a really good way to end the season and we have some momentum going into Dallas for the start of next year’s points.  The final was fun to drive.  Dad always says not to pedal the race car, but in the finals all rules go out the window.  It was great to be able to earn the win for Skip and Barb from Powersource Transportation, who were in attendance, and the rest of our great sponsors.”

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team would also like to thank their associate sponsors Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, R & R Racing Products, Flatout Gaskets, NGK, Lucas Oil, Snyder Auto, VP Racing Fuels, JE Pistons, PSI Springs, Long Printing, Goodson, Jeg’s and The Winning Team  for their continued support this year.

Snyder Runs Well at The Rock

Even though the Rockingham ADRL race was eventually postponed due to rain, Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team certainly had some things to be happy about on their trip back to Indiana.  The ADRL rookie and his Powersource Transportation sponsored ride ran personal best numbers on each of their 3 qualifying runs, including side by side 3.66 passes with teammate Jason Scruggs in the third qualifying run.

Snyder, now the 5th fastest ADRL driver of all time, is currently sitting in the 4th qualifying position with one more time run to complete when the race is run in 2 weeks at Norwalk.  The 2nd generation driver, ran 3.73 out of the box, then followed it up with a 3.69, before running 3.66 at 207 mph in the Friday night session.

“We had a really good weekend.  We took the car down to ZMax the Wednesday before the race and just made some 330 foot passes to see if the changes we implemented after St. Louis had worked.  After leaving there we were really excited to get her out and make some full runs,” said Snyder.

“It has been a good year for us, we have learned a lot about what it takes to run one of these suspension cars.  I am really looking forward to going to Norwalk and making some more laps.  Hopefully, we can end the season on a strong note and be ready for next year.”

The next event for the Team is September 24th and 25th at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

Successful Weekend for Snyder in Houston

The ADRL UTI Texas Drags at Houston Raceway Park proved to be another successful weekend for rookie Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team. The Powersource Transportation sponsored Pro Extreme Pro Mod qualified in the top half of the field for the first time in their short ADRL career and proved they have the horsepower to run with the best of the best when they were the first out of a handful of cars to run over 200 mph in the eighth mile.

“This whole deal is such a learning experience for us and I think the curve gets shorter every race. We have learned so much in the last couple months about these Pro Mod cars and I think we are starting to get it all to come together. It has been a lot of fun for us to try and bring the things we have learned over the years and relate them to something new,” said Snyder.

After qualifying number 5 in their 4 th ADRL start, with a 3.80 second pass at 203 mph, the Team was unable to navigate the tricky racing surface during first round. Always optimistic, the Team quickly began trying to figure out what changes needed to be made for the next event.

“We have been to St. Louis several times over the years and are looking forward to going back in a couple weeks. The car is running better each race and hopefully we will be able to go some rounds in both events. We couldn’t be out here without the help of the great sponsors that have stuck with us throughout the years and we would love to get them in one of these winner’s circles.”

Next the Team will head to St. Louis and Gateway Raceway Park for the Hardee’s Drags August 6 th and 7th. They will also be finishing the Topeka event where they qualified number 10 and will match up against Quain Stott in the first round of eliminations.

Snyder Ready for Martin

After a successful debut in Richmond, Virginia last month, ADRL Pro Extreme rookie Mick Snyder will head to Martin, Michigan this weekend for the Ford Drive One Summer Drags VI at US 131 Motorsports Park.

“I am really forward to getting back out there, especially now that we have a little more experience. Last month, we brought out the Powersource Transportation Corvette for the first time and by the time we left Virginia I had more than double the seat time I had when we pulled in Thursday. Dad and I went to Houston earlier this year, but most of my crew had never even been to an ADRL race, much less competed in one. We were really happy to make some good runs and get a round win. This car is only going to get quicker as I get a handle on the car and Dad begins to tune her up,” said Snyder.

The 28 year-old second generation driver has had success at this facility before in Top Alcohol Funny Car. Over the past few years, Snyder has participated in an invitation only race at US 131, which he set the track record in and won each year.

“We really like coming here. It is close to home and Jason does a really good job with the track. This weekend will be the first time some of our friends and family, including Skip and Barb from Powersource, will get to experience the ADRL. We are excited to show them the new Pro Mod and hopefully put on a good show for them and the rest of the fans.”

Snyder Makes Successful Pro Extreme Debut

Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team sponsored by Powersource Transportation made the trip to Virginia Motorsports Park last weekend to make their ADRL Pro Extreme debut. The 28 year old Snyder, a 16 year veteran of the sport, had a successful weekend getting his feet wet behind the wheel of the ’63 Corvette.

After qualifying number 10 with a 5.78 at 201 mph, Snyder was first off the line and never looked back in first round, matching his qualifying effort with a 3.78 at 203 mph. In the second round, Snyder cut a great .012 light, but the car came unhooked down track, and he had to abort the run. The ADRL rookie did a great job of driving as the car was up on 2 wheels at one point but he was able to reel her back in and save the Powersource Transportation Corvette.

“It was really a great weekend for us. The car ran well, and we learned so much. Second round marked our 5 th full pass on the car. I am still getting the feel of her, and even though we have run this combination in the past, we are trying to get a handle on what this car wants versus the funny cars and dragsters we have had. So, to accomplish as much as we did, is very exciting for the Team.”

“Now we will take what we have learned and go back to the shop to get ready for the Michigan race. There is a lot left in this car and as we get more laps, that will begin to show.”

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team would also like to thank their associate sponsors Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, R & R Racing Products, Flatout Gaskets, NGK, Lucas Oil, Snyder Auto, JE Pistons, PSI Springs, Long Printing, Goodson, Jeg’s, The Winning Team, Weld Racing Wheels and VP Racing Fuels for their continued support this year.

Snyder Joins Scruggs as Pro Extreme Teammate

It has been a busy off season for former Top Alcohol Funny Car standout Mick Snyder as he is taking on a new challenge this year in the American Drag Racing League’s hyper-competitive Pro Extreme arena.

The second-generation racer and his father, Larry, have been working hard to get a beautiful ‘63 split-window Corvette ready for the ADRL season-opening Safety-Kleen Dragpalooza VI, Mar. 19-20, at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas.

The Demotte, Indiana-based duo are teaming up with current ADRL world record holder and former back-to-back Pro Extreme champion Jason Scruggs and his father, Mitchell, for the 2010 season and will continue to be sponsored by Powersource Transportation.

While the Snyder team and associate sponsorship will remain primarily the same, Snyder Motorsports will be returning to its roots by putting a Coan converter and Lencodrive transmission in the car, a combination they ran successfully on the Funny Car circuits for years.

“Dad and I have thought and talked about racing in Pro Extreme for years,” the 28-year-old driver said. “We discussed it at the beginning of the off season and decided if we could put the right deal together we would make the switch. Shortly after, things started to fall into place. It has already been a lot of work, but we are having fun getting everything ready and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel and see what she can do.”

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team would also like to thank their associate sponsors Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, R & R Racing Products, Flatout Gaskets, NGK, Lucas Oil, Snyder Auto, Long Printing, Goodson, Auto Meter, Jeg’s, The Winning Team, Spitzer Enterprises, Weld Racing Wheels and VP Racing Fuels for their continued support this year.
